Forest Man
In many parts of the world, deforestation and climate change are serious threats to the environment. When too many trees are cut down, the soil becomes dry, floods become more common, and wildlife lose their homes. It is an alarming problem, but one man from India showed that even a single person can make a difference.
More than forty years ago, Jadav Payeng saw many dead snakes on a barren island near his home. The animals had died because there were no trees to give them shelter from the sun. He decided to start planting trees to protect the area’s species and bring back life. He began by putting small saplings into the ground, watering them, and caring for them every day. He worked single-handedly for years, although many people thought he was wasting his time.
Over time, his forest grew into an amazing green paradise full of vegetation and animals. Today, it is home to birds, deer, elephants, and even tigers. Payeng’s work has helped to prevent floods, improve the soil, and change the local climate. His story is not only a feel-good example of hard work and hope — it also shows that there’s no shortage of ideas or strength when people truly care for nature.
